In addition to the pleasant walk leading to Castello di Sestola castle, the destination of the best excursions is inevitably Monte Cimone mount.

For example, you can follow the scenic route to Passo del Lupo pass, stopping at Pian del Falco, which is also linked to Sestola via ski lift.

We also recommend you go to the Lago della Ninfa lake, a remarkable picnic spot in green settings. Otherwise, you can continue and reach Pian Cavallaro (1800 metres asl), or even climb Monte Cimone mount and take in one of the most stunning panoramas in the Apennines: from Mount Blanc to the Apuane Alps, including the Po Valley and the blue western Adriatic Sea, and – on a really clear day – the outline of the isle of Elba and Corsica.

Dedicated events and happenings will make your summer holiday in Sestola even more enjoyable. The long list includes the car and motorbike shows here at Hotel San Marco, and the several “Appennino inCanto” appointments, which attract opera lovers, and several other visitors, to Emilia’s and Tuscany’s mountains every year!

And, when summer comes to a close, beauty does not: Sestola’s woods become popular with mushroom and truffle pickers as soon as autumn gently takes over.

Superb experience

We recently stayed at Hotel San Marco for 2 nights. The hotel is closely located to the bus station and surrounding shops/restaurants. Reception was lovely and spoke English very well. Upon arrival, check in was fast and our room was ready with all our request met. Room itself had a lovely view of Sestola and the bathroom was very clean & full equipped. The hotel staff are incredibly friendly and they provided a shuttle service to drove us to and from the ski site. On many occasions, hotel staff went out of their way to help us plan our vacation. We will definitely be coming back to stay at Hotel San Marco.
